This week marks the return of everyone’s favourite road warrior Max Rockatansky after nearly 30 years of lying dormant after the ill-advised Beyond Thunderdome adventure.
Hype is justifiably high for Warner Brother’s expensive and risky big budget tentpole event but every early indication seems to suggest that cinema goers and fans of the Mad Max universe are in for an almighty treat come release day this week.
If you’re on the fence about this new wasteland set journey, these are some reasons you should be revving your engines and getting pumped up about what could just be the big screen event of 2015.
Happy reading and happy watching!
Little needs to be said of Hardy and his transformation into one of the industry’s most commanding performers. From the blockbusters of Christopher Nolan, his breakout role in Bronson through to his incredibly powerful low key turn in last year’s Locke, Hardy’s presence here is enough to make you pay attention. Here’s hoping Hardy does Max Rockatansky and Mel Gibson proud.

Let’s forget those pretty yet shallow CGI dancing penguins for a minute, Miller made his mark in the action genre with the first Mad Max and after many years of countless failed projects, Fury Road seems like the mad geniuses wild mind come to grandiose vivid life. At 70 years of age, this could be Miller’s finest ever moment and just rewards for a long standing career.

With a budget in excess of $150 million it seems as though a fair portion of this was heaped into the production of the various rides on offer and it’s always a joy to see fully functioning creations in amongst all the CGI wizardry.

Action, like we’ve never seen before
In an age of comic book styled action events, Fury Road looks set to bring back the gritty heart pounding action of yesteryear with a modern digitally shot flavour. If the trailers are any indication, we look set to be privy to some seriously demented (in all the right ways) gasoline fuelled action carnage.

More positive than even the most ardent fan would’ve hoped for, at the time of writing Fury Road holds a 90% plus rating on review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes with many hailing this new journey to the apocalyptic wastelands as a new genre classic and one of the most thrilling rides one could hope to have at the movies. What a lovely day indeed!
