In but a few weeks time audiences around the world will be lining up to witness a group of superhero’s and misfits being dubbed “worst hero’s ever” in David Ayer’s DC comic book adaptation Suicide Squad.
After what seems like an eternity of hype and intrigue, there’s little doubt that Suicide Squad is going to make a huge amount of money at the box office and below we’ve listed a few reasons as to why you to should be getting amped up to get your cosplay costumes ready (my Harley Quinn outfit is being custom made as I write this very article) and get your ticket to what could just be the biggest superhero outing this year (sorry Batman v Superman and Captain America).
Here’s hoping Ayer’s colorful and action packed journey to the dark side of the comic book realm is worthy of all the fuss.
See you all in August!
Happy reading and happy watching!
1. These guys are not your run of the mill superhero’s
Sick of the nice guys always winning and sticking it to the baddies? Suicide Squad should be the antidote you need then with this rag tag group of anti-heroes anything but model citizens. If the film sticks closely to the tone of the comics, it’s likely that Suicide Squad should majorly shake up the now stale comic book blockbuster even more so than Deadpool.

2. Will Smith
The last few years haven’t been great for Mr. Smith. Boycotting Oscars, roles in stinkers like Winter’s Tale and largely forgettable dramas like Concussion, it’s about time the one time Box Office king had a hit and delivered on his undeniable charisma. Not often one to take a backseat, Smith’s role as sharpshooter Deadshot should hopefully be his return to form.

3. The return of the Joker
The last time we saw the crazed clown on the big screen was in the Christopher Nolan classic The Dark Knight and as portrayed as the late great Heath Ledger it’s arguable that the portrayal of the Joker seen there was the best ever. Oscar winning actor and musician Jared Leto certainly has a lot to live up to but from all the press and from what we’ve seen in trailers and TV spots, it looks likely that his incarnation of the Joker should be a fairly colorful and entertaining one.

4. David Ayer has runs on the board
Far from a household name, Navy submariner turned director David Ayer has quietly been crafting away a very decent career behind camera (let’s just forget about Sabotage) and a trademark of his films has always been his allowance of fairly harsh and confronting material dominating his tales, and although the studio bigwigs may be looking to tone this adventure down for a wider audience, Ayer seems like the perfect man for the job as long as he delivers on the promise his shown in films like Fury and End of Watch.

5. Margot Robbie
I feel as though this one speaks for itself but its surely going to be a blast seeing Australia’s very own Margot Robbie steal the show as fan favourite Harley Quinn.
Get the lowdown on Margot Robbie’s take on Harley Quinn from this news flash –
I think I’ve been waiting for this movie all of my life! Okay. That was just sad.
Nothing sad about that, bring on the Squad I say!
E
Woo Hoo!
Oh yes, Margot Robbie will be awesome – first time I heard of her casting, I immediately approved!
Not sure about Will Smith though . . .
She has that affect mate 🙂 I do think this could be one of Smith’s best turns in quite a while, fingers crossed.
E
I cannot wait for this. Robbie seems to have absolutely nailed what is a hugely popular character from what I’ve seen so far, could absolute steal the film from Will Smith, Joker, and Batfleck.
I reckon you’re right Shugs! She could really run away with the whole entire show.
E
Ok now I am extra extra excited!
I like it 🙂 hears to August 4th!
E
Very excited for this, and also for Affleck’s appearance! Will be very interesting to see how his cameo ties into things. It’s also great that we don’t already know exactly what’s going to happen, like we did for a certain other DC film earlier this year…
Bring on batfleck.
E
Genuinely cannot wait
Im with you on that one.
E
I’ve been slow coming around to the idea of this one (I’m such a Marvel girl, really!) but the last few trailers have been cranking up the excitement!
They’ve done a great job marketing thats for sure.

You know, I was pretty neutral about this one, though I did like the cast and I really like Ayer’s work, I was ready to wait for a home release. The initial trailers were pretty bland. Then the last trailer dropped, and I thought it was starting to look pretty damn good. Then I saw that same trailer in cinema, on the big screen, and I knew there was no way that I wasn’t going to see it in cinema. It suddenly got me excited for it, and now I can’t wait!
Its a must see big screen experience i think:)
E
Can someone please explain to me how Jai Courtney continues to get work in Hollywood? Is he King of the Casting Couch or something?
Haha i must admit your not the only one thats questioning his skills.
E
Looking forward to that one. Nice going guys.
Not long to wait now buddy!
E
Pictures of the Harley Quinn costume please.
Look I can’t promise they will ever see the light of day ha 🙂
