“Nobody ruins his vacation”
Review by Eddie on 15/08/2025
Unquestionably slight and content to provide us with more of the same following on from the surprise success of 2021’s first outing, Nobody 2 refuses to mess with the rulebook but thanks to another committed turn from Bob Odenkirk, some energetic direction from Timo Tjahjanto in his English language debut and a sense of playfulness throughout, this baggage free sequel is a winner.
Clocking in at a refreshingly brisk runtime that terminates under the 90 minute mark, Nobody 2 sticks to the task at hand and refuses to be side-tracked with unnecessary side missions or character beats, as we instead enjoy some explosive vacation action with Odenkirk’s assassin/family man Hutch Mansell as he takes his clan to the proposed to be quiet American town of Plummerville.
Nothing that transpires within Tjahjanto’s feature is going to shock or surprise anyone that has ever seen an action film before but the energy Tjahjanto and his willing cast bring to proceedings as well as some seriously well-staged moments of carnage taking place everywhere from a crowded elevator, a duck boat through to an abandoned amusement park ensures Nobody 2 is a joy to sit back and watch if you are willing to accept it for what it is and strap in for the ride.
On board for the carnage, mayhem and one liners this time around are Colin Hanks, John Ortiz and Sharon Stone who all get to chew on some serious scenery and add some great novelty value to the battle between Mansell and Stone’s ruthless crime boss Lendina while the returning Connie Nielsen as Hutch’s long-suffering wife Becca and Christopher Lloyd as Hutch’s cigar loving father David enjoy their return, with Lloyd’s shotgun wielding delights from the first film bettered here by the 86 year old industry veteran manning a mounted machine gun to get the job done.
Having made his mark in his native Indonesia with brutal action flicks such as The Shadow Strays, The Night Comes for Us and Headshot, as well as highly regarded short horror segments in V/H/S/2 and The ABCs of Death, Tjahjanto has proven here that he has what it takes to make the leap into Hollywood while the Nobody brand has too proven it has more to give if Hutch Mansell were to return for a third outing.
Final Say –
A simplistically enjoyable action film that never attempts to take itself too seriously as it embraces its nature and remains baggage free throughout, Nobody 2 is a fun and fast paced sequel that is sure to please fans of the first outing while entertaining anyone else looking for a short and sharp action romp.

I watched this movie today. I had a fun time. As far as sequels go, it was everything I hoped it would be at minimum for entertainment. Sharon Stone made me think she was inspired by an Al Pacino performance somewhere… maybe The Devil’s Advocate but less cerebral.
Did you catch the poster of The Forever Purge on a wall as the ending credits began?
I did see that poster, to be honest I am wondering why it’s referenced in this film unless it’s just something the director likes?
This was a very fun film though, I mean it’s as slight as they come but sometimes that’s all you need.

Just as I hoped it to be. Can’t wait to see it. I enjoyed the first one a lot.
I am the same mate. It’s just super silly fun that never outstays its welcome. Enjoy when you catch it!
