  1. Just wondering if you could point me in the direction of places I can get photos of films etc to use for my blog? Everything I find falls under copyright laws etc. Loving the reviews, and thanks for the likes.

  2. Hey mates,

Bill here at the Frisco Kid at the Movies blog. Couldn’t get your contact form to work for me, so I’m leaving a comment for you.

I have been talking with Paul Sampson, the writer/director/producer of Night of the Templar (2013) about setting up a blog tour for the movie. Tentative dates for the tour, which starts a week from Thursday, are 2/27 – 3/5.

I am wondering if you might be interested in doing a post on the movie during that time period. It also might be possible to do an interview with Sampson or one of the cast members, depending on availability.

Please let me know if you’re interested!

    Cheers,

    Bill

  3. Hey Jordan and Eddie,
I was trying to send you an email through the contact section but for some reason, it keeps sending me to another page to get a form like that on my own page!
I was wondering if I could send you guys some questions to help with my uni work? I’m currently doing a research project into Online Reviewers/Youtube Reviewers/Up and Coming Reviewers vs Established Critics and Magazines, like Empire, and was wondering if I could perhaps ask you guys of your opinions on the matter and get some statistics and such!

Hope to hear back from you!
    Billi

    • Hi Billie

Jordan and I would be more than happy to help out in any small way we can. If you could please email more detail or even just the questions you are needing answered to us, or provide your email so we can contact you.

Looking forward to working with you.
      Eddie

    • I have also inquired about contacting Jordan and Eddie via e-mail. Like you, I have encountered the same frustrating form. I don’t know why Jordan and Eddie cannot simply provide us with an e-mail address.

      • Sorry both have experienced problems with this form page but hopefully you appreciate the fact if there was an email address clearly visible it would be vulnerable to the thing we all hate – spam. This form provided by wordpress we trust is sufficient.
        Eddie

      • It’s a little annoying, but I found they were able to reply on this pretty quickly! (If you haven’t already) leave a comment and hopefully they see that 🙂 hopefully the contact section gets fixed quickly!

My name is Tavis Chapman and I am a first year student in RMIT’s Adv Dip of Professional Screenwriting. For our subject of Working in the Industry, we are approaching individuals for a guest speaking session we call Forums. Each Forum goes for roughly an hour, and our group, which is exploring the critic’s view of Australian Film/T.V, were wondering if you would be interested in attending. The Forum is on the 28th of March and would begin around 1:30. Could you please post your reply, whether it be yes or no, at the soonest possibility.

    Sincerely
    Tavis Chapman

    • Hi Tavis.

Sounds like a great initiative. With Jordan based in Tasmania and myself traveling on that date sadly we will have to give it a miss.
We hope it all goes well and wish you all the best with your studies. Please if there is anything else we can help with down the track please be sure to let us know.
      All the best!
      J and E

  5. Thanks for reading some of my stuff on ‘Perks and Peeves’ – I appreciate it. I really like your stuff, good to see some other Australian film lovers, if only we didn’t get films from the cinemas so late!

  6. Hey guys, thanks to one (?) of you for dropping by my new (and thus slightly malnourished) blog today. High five about being from Hobart, too. I spent my childhood growing up there (because children are good at growing like that), and loved the part where you recommended the State Cinema (gee, that takes me back) to one of your followers. I’ll stop with the parentheses now. Keep up the great work and look forward to seeing you in my feed. -VW

  7. I have a silly question. I note the “nostalgia genre” eras for some nations, like USA: cowboys with six-shooters, GB: knights in shining armor, Japan: sword-flashing samurais, India: elephant-riding royalty, Finland: machete-wielding nude ladies, etc. What are the nostalgic eras in Tasmania? Do they have anything to do with cannibalism? What about the “scalping” era? 😉

  8. Hello. I really enjoy your site. Would you be willing to do a guest post on my site Chick Flicking Reviews? I think it would be fun.

    Thanks!

    • Hi M.Lion I am sure speaking on behalf of both Jordan and I we would be more than happy to do such a thing at your convenience. We’d be happy to perhaps write on something you’d wish to hear about/review a film of your choice. You let us know and I am sure we can come up with something. Cheers.

  9. Hi Jordan and Eddie,

I am currently helping the International Screen Academy (ISA) with outreach regarding their newest course, the Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media.

They are currently looking for potential students for their July intake. I am contacting you to see if any of your readers, or perhaps even you would be interested in this course, and if you could help us in putting out this information to all of them.

If possible, I have a PR release as well as a PDF brochure that I would love to send to you. Thank you very much and I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Cheers,
    Clarinda

      • Hi Jordan and Eddie,

        Thank you very much!

I do have a pdf brochure that I am unable to attach here. Is there an email I could send it to?

Here is the press release without the images:

ISA launches unique course for emerging film producers
ISA launches unique course for emerging film producers
Commencing in July, ISA is offering its newest course, the Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media (CUF60107). The course has been designed for emerging producers who are ready to face the challenge of creating the screen content that future audiences will demand. Screen producers need story and business skills that work across film, television, the web, transmedia or games, and ISA is focussed on developing those skills in talented people.
“Most of all, we need people with ideas, passion and imagination, and who are ready to create their own future”, says Stephen Murphy, ISA’s Head of Film. “If that is you, then we can teach you how to turn your project ideas into engaging and entertaining stories that audiences really want”. To do this, ISA has developed a course that is highly practical. “Students will be filmmakers from day one. In each of the four semesters of the course, you will be guided to take your own ideas from concept to a marketable, finished production, working in our studios, with budgets, equipment and resources supplied by ISA”.
The screen producing course has strong links to ISA’s established Advanced Diploma of Acting for Contemporary Screen Media (91518NSW). Producing students and acting students will work together on key projects in a culture of mutual respect and collaborative learning. “Film schools are well recognised for creating the networks and relationships that lead to lifelong partnerships. Our acting and producing students will have a unique career-driving benefit from the very start of their time at ISA”, says Murphy.
“It’s not up to us to dictate what the future of storytelling will look like. Our job is to prepare people to recognise and to grasp the new creative opportunities that will come their way.”
APPLICATION NOW OPEN for JULY Intake GO to http://www.isasydney.com.au

I would also love to send a properly formatted press release if I can. Once again, thank you!

  10. Hi guys,

My name is Georgie and I work with Blue Planet PR on Oz Comic-Con. We’d love to send you a press release about an upcoming film screening we have, but the contact form isn’t working for me. Could you shoot me an email at georgie.carroll(at)blueplanetpr.com.au so I can add you to our distribution list? Thanks!

    Georgie

  11. Hi Jordan and Eddie,

it’s Petr from Flow Studio, mobile game developers with 3 major titles which have had 4M downloads. My team is currently working on a movie quiz called Cut! for iPhone. We plan to soft launch the game in Australia around July 14 to get the initial feedback.

As we are based in Europe it’s way too far for me to get some local insight about your market. I wonder if you can help me to identify the key media who might be interesting to cover the release? I’m targeting mostly online sites and bloggers, because it’s the shortest way from the post to the App Store. Just few names to the email petr.fodor@flowstudiogames.com will be enough, it’s always better than just to google without understanding the market, number of readers and importance of the media.

I would also love to hear your opinion about the game, we will be ready to send it over to your iOS devices in three weeks.

Thanks a lot in advance, I really appreciate your help.

    Best,
    Petr

    • Hi Petr

We will be more than happy to help out where we can, we will get an email done up for your team shortly and hopefully it can help out with the launch down here. Best of luck and will be in contact.
      Eddie

  12. Hi Jordan and Eddie!
Other than being a (very occasional) blogger, I also head up online comms for Presto – Foxtel’s on-demand movie service. I’d love to chat to you guys about your blog and see if we might be able to work together in some capacity. We’ve got a series of really cool developments to the service that we’re about to launch and are keen to connect with real film lovers like you guys. Could you email me at screelman108 at gmail dot com and we can start the conversation?
    Chat soon – Sarah

    • Hi Sarah
We ‘d be more than happy to get in touch, anything that promotes the watching of movies is something we are happy to be apart of. Will shoot through a more in depth email tomorrow. Look forward to working with you.
      Eddie and Jordan

  13. Thanks for the like today guys! Read your piece about Danny Boyle and couldn’t agree more, though I still love Slumdog Millionaire, especially the OTT Bollywood dance at the end!

  14. Hey guys, glad you came across me, because now I’ve come across you! Great blog, and always cool to “meet” other Aussies who are into films too. 😀

  15. Hi guys, I’m looking to expand myself further here on WordPress, and eventually further afield, as a reviewer. I would love to be able to post a review once in a while on your site if you’re interested? Thanks 🙂

    • Hi Cheyanne.

It’s great to hear your looking to maximise your potential using the WordPress world, a world seemingly ripe for opportunity :). While we love supporting other reviewers and lovers of film at present having guest reviewers appear on J and E is not something we are looking into, as a small but personnel type of project between both Jordan and I this may never change.
Wishing you all the best and hope to stay in touch with you on the film world.
      Eddie

  16. Hello Jordan and Eddie,

My name is Taylor Saxon from the Korean Film Festival in Australia. We are the exclusive Film Festival showcasing Korean films in Australia and have extended to six major cities including Adelaide and Sydney.

I came across your blog when I was searching for bloggers that might be interested in posting or reviewing our Korean Film Festival. Part of this thought came when I saw your impressively detailed reviews on some international films such as the Studio Ghibli’s ‘Princess Mononoke’ and ‘Sushi Girl’. It is along the lines of what we are hoping to collaborate with.

By being able to collaborate together it would bring in an opportunity for you to have your say on this event as well as more reviews on international film.

We would be happy to offer you doublepasses to partake in screenings for films you may wish to review.

If this is of any interest to you or you would like more information please do not hesitate to contact me at:
    taylor.saxon@koreanculture.org.au

    • Hi Taylor.

Thanks so much for taking the time out to get in touch with both Jordan and I. This is a fantastic initiative and reading online about it it sounds like there are a lot of keen film fans out there eagerly awaiting the festival.

A few issues with participation from our end is our bases are both quite far away from the cities the festival takes place in, I being 3 – 4 hours out of Melbourne and Jordan based in Tasmania. Another slight issue is we are off to Japan around the same time for a bit of a cultural experience.

We would love to help out and advertise the festival here on J and E or showcase the exciting schedule lined up once it is confirmed. If you have anything for us along these lines please let us know and if it looks like we can make some of the itinery at the Melbnourne event we will be sure to let you know as it would be fantastic to shine the spotlight on some of the quality films showing there and the festival as a whole.

Look forward to keeping in touch and please let us know of any such future events that we may be able to be apart of/help shine a light onto.

      Eddie

  17. Hey Guys!

Your contact form isn’t working for me. Is there an email address I could contact you on. Currently producing a Melbourne based film that I would love to have featured on your website!!

    A.

  18. Howdy!

My name is Drew Hall. I am the producer/director of the independent action thriller Sons of Liberty. I was hoping you might be interested in taking a look at if for review. It’s by no means a perfect film, but we are quite proud of what we were able to accomplish on such a tight budget.

Here’s a link to the trailer should you be interested I would be happy to send an online screener your way.
    http://www.frame29films.com/#!sons-of-liberty/c1gex

Thank you for the countless hours of watching the good, the bad, and the independent. If it were not for writers like yourself this world would be a very boring place.

    • Hi Drew

First of all thanks for the kind words mate. I know both Jordan and I love to explore all different forms of films, from the high budget, low budget and all those in between and we enjoy writing about them all and hearing what people might think.

We’d love to check out your film and baring in mind we run some pretty slow Australian internet speeds over here ha feel free to shoot the online screener to both – eddie_baggins@hotmail.com and jordan.griffiths1991@gmail.com.

All the best with your future projects Drew and the tricky business of movie making in the Hollywood game. We look forward to hearing from you again in the future.

  19. Hey, just wanted to say thank you for following my blog! A follow from a blog as awesome as this is very much appreciated! Loving your blog and can’t wait to see more updates :)!

    • Hi Richard
We’d be more than happy to profile your website here on J and E one day. We love to try and promote as many Australian productions as we can see and I am sure some of our readers would really like to hear more about the local scene. If you’d like to email me some words about your website we could use or if you’d like us to use your “about” section of the website we can do up an article within the next few weeks.
      E

  20. Hi, thanks for the quick response. I don’t have your Email but mine is r_delamore (at) hotmail.com
I would simply describe my website this way:
“Acting Australia is devoted to actively promoting the Australian and Esperanto entertainment industries through coordination and intelligent promotion of home-grown projects.”

  21. Hi guys,

There’s a Kickstarter campaign to bring the humble hatchback from #BuyMyBarina to the silver screen with “Barinageddon” – it’s like Armageddon, but with a Barina.

Would be awesome if you could help spread the word by posting the trailer and sharing the link to the Kickstarter page. Google “barinageddon” – the media are loving it and the trailer has already clocked up over 688,000 views.

    Thanks!

  22. Hi Jordan and Eddie,

Since you’re such big fans of Australian film, I thought I would let you know about the upcoming movie Find Your Voice. It stars Keisha Castle-Hughes (Whale Rider, Game of Thrones) and Adam Saunders (Blue Water High, Home and Away).

We’ve finished filming and right now we are crowdfunding to finish post-production and bring it to the big screen. Link here: http://igg.me/at/findyourvoice/x/9175074

It would be a great film for you to cover as it’s shot in Australia and New Zealand and tells an uplifting story—which often is not the case for Australian films.

The cast is also impressive. In addition to Keisha and Adam, the film features Tama Lundon of reggae group Herbs, Ian Moss of Cold Chisel, and Danielle Hayes, the first-ever Maori winner of New Zealand’s next top model.

If you are interested, please let me know if there is any way I can make the writing process easier for you.

Thanks for taking the time to check us out!
    Jenna

    • Hi Jenna

Thanks so much for getting in touch with us, just had a look over the exciting project and we would be more than happy to showcase the film and it’s campaign here on the site.

If you’d like so send us a few words we would love to compile a piece that can go up on the site either late this week/early next week and hopefully help achieve your goals to finish off the film.
      E

  23. Hey Jordan and Eddie,

Thanks for liking my list of the Worst Movies of All Time, as well as following my blog! It’s something I very much appreciate as I work to build a readership, so to have wonderful film bloggers like you guys following it is quite rewarding!

    Sincerely,
    Bill

    • Hi Trent.
Absolutely we’d be willing to, between the two of us I’m sure we’ll find time to have a look and do a write. Please advise on how to track down a copy. Cheers.
      E

  24. Hi guys!
I’m a third year media student at Melbourne Uni, and I’m currently doing a brief piece on the state of Australian film/tv presently, and looking into the future. I was wondering whether either of you would be interested in answering a couple of questions for me on the topic via email. The nature of the questions are pretty broad and general and shouldn’t take long to complete, I’m just hoping to get the input of someone with a little more knowledge than I have!

    Thanks a lot,

    Rebecca

  25. Hey guys, I have to say, great work as always. I was wondering if you guys would think of doing a round up of comedy, both film and tv. I want to know what do you guys think about modern shows like Arrested Development, Alan Partridge, 30 Rock, Seinfeld, Curb etc. Would like to read what you guys think. Keep up the good work. Cheers

    • Hey mate. Cheers for the kind words. We don’t really touch tv on the blog dude but as an overview both Jordan and I are huge fans of Seinfeld and Arrested Development while I’ve lost interest in many modern day comedy series J enjoys Parks and Recs, the Office and Always Sunny 🙂
      E

  26. Hi Jordan and Eddie, would you be interested in reviewing my indie horror film The Sky Has Fallen? It won Best Feature at the 2009 Freak Show Horror Film Festival and Best Horror Feature at the 2009 Indie Gathering Film Festival. It was also nominated for Best FX at the 2012 Maverick Movie Awards. It’s a post-apocalyptic love story with all practical FX:

I can send you a link to watch a secure screener online for free. Just shoot me an email at: dougrobertroos@gmail.com

    Thanks!

  27. Hi guys, love the blog and you’ve been a big inspiration for me, not just in style but in content. I did have a question about how to get a “Search” button on my page because I had a follower ask if I had one. My email is chadharrison14@gmail.com, thanks for any help you can give.

  28. Just read your review of The Water Diviner on IMDB and couldn’t agree more. 2 games of train cricket! It’s all that film was worth. The minute Russell Crowe walks into that Turkish hotel you knew exactly where the film was headed. I don’t know where to start with the amount of cliches. Very disappointing.

    • Ah cheers for stopping by Philip. It was a very disappointing film especially considering how big of a success it was here in Aus at the Box Office. After all the filmmakers Crowe has worked with, I felt like he could’ve done more here.
      E

      • I always update my site as soon as I find a new site or blog I like. Though I pref. to post a banner button for the other blogs instead of a roll but i might do that even though I think the list is quite long

  29. I’m glad you enjoyed my Persepolis video! I appreciate it and hope I end up making more stuff you guys enjoy! I hope you’ll share my work with others, too! 🙂 I’m impressed with the reviews, I’m looking forward to seeing what you guys think about Star Wars!

  30. Now that I think about it, if you guys would be interested, we could definitely collaborate on some work. I could provide you with video material for the blog, such as video reviews, ad/trailer for the blog, etc. Might be a good way to branch out a bit in terms of content.
